FULL COURSE, TAB, JAM TRACKS: truefire.at More Free Guitar Lessons: bit.ly On Twitter – www.twitter.com On Facebook – www.truefire.com There are basically three licks here strung together. The G run is taken directly from that cliché bluegrass run. Ive played through three octaves here. At the end of the third octave, I play the flatted seventh, a blues scale note instead of completing the octave. Next I move into a blues lick. The descending lick in sixths also has some bluesy sounds to it because of the flatted seventh (Bb). Theres a little bit of clucking there on those third string chromatics. The lower octave runs at the end come right out of the blues scale. So there you have it, a combination of the major and minor pentatonic scales.

Its basically hardcore eartraining since you are supposed to sing all these scales and rhythms before you even start playing a instrument!! In this video I explain how the south Indian “Melakarta Raga” system works. You will notice that I sing the “Pa” (fifth) and the “Sa” (Tonic) in the background (The two notes that are allways fixed in Indian classical music).
